My Quest for Water:

Minister
of Environment & Forest, Honorable Mr. Shajaman Shirag speaking
To my left Dr. Aftabuddin Ahmed, Ph.D & Director of BCSIR Laboratories, Dhaka
Miss Humayra Ahmed - my personal assistant & translator.
My quest for water started in my early 20’s. Wanting to live a strong and healthy life and knowing the importance of food, I chose to have a healthy diet - a part of which is water. In late 1960’s, I became interested in a vegetarian diet and distilled water. I started selling water distillers as a sideline business to my own work. I discovered many problems regarding the maintenance and upkeep of water distillers. In late 70’s and early 80’s, I got interested in reverse osmosis; I bought 2 for my family. I was determined to give my family the purest water that was available. But it didn’t work. One day, my daughter came to me saying that, “Dad, how come the water is stinking?” I did not believe her at the first; I thought it was not possible. So I went into the kitchen, and found that she was right — the water really stinks!
That put me on a new quest for water with the background of the previous 15 years experience. I was searching for something better. I got involved in this matter as a consumer and started my research in the water technology. I bought water purification appliances from several companies and saw that they all had some drawbacks — none were satisfactory. They all needed a lot of maintenance and up keepings. We are all busy people. We tend to put things off. I was sure that this same thing would happen to my customers also, which will make things even worse for them, instead of improving them. I had many experiences with hazardous materials. Therefore, I kept looking for a better, new way than the existing technology for good water for a healthy body.
At this time I was working full time in the water business. I had sold many different water products and very aware of most types of products & technologies. I had built several of my own whole house systems, and made some successful discoveries. The most important was my automatic iron / sulfur system, which I later named Little Hercules. My current models are a slight improvement of it. This, almost 15 years later is still a State-of-the-Art System and one of my best selling products. It has stood the the test of time. My whole line of products are built around it. Wholly Water as it is today, is the result of this. In fact, it is the very first filter tank that makes up the whole house Wholly Water System.
As for Wholly Water ® The Ultimate Drinking Water Appliance, the first design was written on a napkin in a restaurant. It was like a gift from above. No idea similar to this existed at that time. The first test was better than anything I have seen before. The first product was built with 12 pounds of filtering beds inside, in 5 different layers — with 11 new technology claims described in its US Patent. Before this invention, there were no purification methods containing separator of the filter beds. The patents were written so that there would be an infringement for any other separator in any other shape of vessel. This technology allows for arrangements of many separate filter medias in the vessel so that filter medias may be engineered, changed or rearranged to provide better results for specific contamination problems and still be able to remove a very broad range of the most common and serious contaminants.
Arsenic: (As)
In 1995, I discovered the
Internet as the World Wide Web (www). It’s a great miracle of technology of our
modern time. Because it allows for a small company to compete in the world
marketplace on a level playing field with the largest companies of the
contemporary period. Not knowing anything about computers and the Internet,
I dedicated 2 years of intense study in my spare time towards mastering it. It
took 2 years before I got my first Internet order. But it was through the
Internet on my Web site, that my dear friend and host Mr. Mohammed Ehsun Ul-Azim discovered my invention. He boldly asked me to be his exclusive distributor in Bangladesh.
In doing so, he told me about the serious Arsenic problems affecting
many suffering people in the country. So I started to study and research on the
arsenic problem in Bangladesh. As good as the test results were and the Wholly Water units are, I thought that it was inadequate for his purpose. So I studied
everything I could find about arsenic problem and its solutions on the
Internet and in print. The result is, this newest model, which contains a new media not used before. I felt very confident about the new
formula that it will work better than the previous one. But Azim informed me
about his plan of putting one unit in a village for 20-40 families, which
really makes the task even more difficult. So, I decided to make the arsenic add-on vessel as a second vessel so it will add to the life of the Wholly Water unit. To Mr. Azim goes the credit for these new improvments. Had it not been for him and his deep desire for the well-being and aid of these beloved people of Bangladesh, it would not have happened, and I would not be here today.
We all owe him our profound gratitude! I am proud to have him as a very dear friend. He is my ambassador of goodwill for WHOLLY WATER to Bangladesh as well as the exclusive import agent.
Features:
The first unit contained about 12 pounds of
filter media, some of which are inert and just removed sediments. The new ones
contained about 18 pounds of filter media in the first vessel, which is a 50%
increase in weight over the original tested units. This new model is much better than the record-breaking original ones.
The unique features are the design of the
pressure vessel, which is one of the most important features of the narrow
filter beds at the top of the unit where some of the heaviest filter medias are
contained. These medias have an extremely long life, if they are cleaned.
Moreover, the narrow filter beds allow for a higher volacity of water when this
unit is in a backwash cycle. This higher volacity gives some greater turbulence
scrubbing ability as these medias are tumbled against each other and cleaned.
The
next unique feature is the leak-free push button, quick disconnects which allow
for a quick and easy built-in self-cleaning cycle. This makes possible to
instantly reverse the flow of water that may flow down to drink or even be
saved for watering plants. So it’s not wasted.
This, for a family home needs to be done once every 3 months. Therefore, this is a great savings feature as no filter-replacement cartridges are ever needed. Although the cost may be higher to a family in the beginning to buy this heavy duty appliance, once owned, all the water is free for the next 10 years or so.
The size of the water purifier is tiny
compared to the massive amount of water it purifies. To take advantage of the 5 to 7 separated filter beds, the filter medias are arranged in a way so that each
successive media is protected from the things that may shorten its life by
filter beds preceding it. So, the water becomes cleaner and purer in each stage
along the way. And it allows for more effectiveness of each individual filter
media because they are not plugged up with other materials that they do not
remove effectively. So the result is a very heavy-duty, long-lasting, self-cleaning, quick and easy-to-care-for appliance that will give the highest quality of purified water.
This unique invention basically copies the way Mother Nature purifies rainwater. As the rainwater falls to the earth, it is very soft with no dissolved solids or minerals, except for the pollution, which it takes out of the atmosphere. Being the universal solvent, soft water is very aggressive in dissolving minerals out of the rock and soil layers of the earth. But this unique filter or purification system has the unique ability to remove unhealthy contaminants and still allow beneficial healthy minerals to be retained in the drinking water. So in one small package, this unit solves all the problems and shortcomings that I discovered with distillers, reverse osmosis and all other units that were found to be inadequate.
